I love Saturdays. As a child Saturdays have been filled with cereal, cartoons, and staying in my pyjamas until noon. If I think about it, there were times when my friends would come to my door at 10 am and we would run to the park. For most people Saturdays are associated with fun, fun, fun, and for me to!
Sundays are filled with lounging around in my p.j.’s lots of coffee and art. Maybe a movie at 9 am.. why not?. I love the feeling of staying under the covers and enjoying doing absolutely nothing. Sunday’s are for crosswords, puzzles, leisurely walks and meditation. Sundays are for reading and writing and no arithmetic… Sundays are fun in their own special way!
So how can I create a fun-filled weekend when I am limited to my home and surroundings? It has been quite challenging to love myself with my depression and agoraphobia, not being able to just JUMP out and do whatever it is I want can be quite maddening, but creative as I am, I have found guilt free ways to take care of my “fun” needs on Saturdays and Sundays.
So, instead of feeling sad for what I cannot do (I still get sad at times) I look at how I can fill my weekends with fun.
I LOVE hanging out with my teens. So when they are home on the weekend we enjoy each other’s company. Sometimes we go for a walk, or hang out on the balcony and have some really awesome conversations. Then there are times, when we are all in our separate spaces doing our own thing, but that is ok.. We always end up getting together to bake cookies or laugh about something.
Sometimes we even dance!
On the 8th and 9th days of my challenge, I am going to really enjoy and cherish this time with my teens.
Fun doesn’t have to mean thrills! Fun can be as simple as laughing while cleaning the dishes!
