“I wish I could go to Paris right now.”
― Emily J. Proctor
Do you ever have dreams where you go nowhere fast? When you know you have a destination, yet obstacles keep coming your way? There are dreams where I feel lost and confused, and cannot find my way out? There are dreams where I am walking into one bedroom after another. Just recently I dreamed I was in a huge theater. What could that possibly mean? For me, a theater is a place where “shows” happpen, and lately I have not been to any! So maybe it is time to put some “fun” into my life.
The next time you dream, pay attention to where you are. Ask yourself: Where am I going? What does this place mean to me? You will find many answers if you take the time to really dig deep and find the meaning to your own symbolism.
This week’s dreamer came to me through a soul-full giveaway, and what I pleasure it was. Faith immediately had a dream almost a day after we met. A dream so clear, and inspiring to intuit and interpret.
Faith describes herself as: a professional dreamer, manifestor and designer. Bohemian, romantic, maverick and a woman of many moods and tastes. Now onto the dream:
Hi Kim, this is from last nights’ dreamland :
I was going through some sort of breakup with a guy (not sure if it was someone from my past, although it (he) had a very familiar feeling to me). It was a conversation over the phone.
The next thing I remembered, I was at an airport, I think trying to board a flight to Paris. It was sort of like old-fashioned flying, I remember being at the gate, in a long line, with my suitcase, trying to figure out how to get a boarding pass. I finally got my pass, and was waiting to board, and one of the agents lit a cigarette, and I wanted one, too, but they told me “no smoking here”….I remember thinking, it’s going to be a 10 hour flight, I really want a cigarette and I had to go to the bathroom….so I started to walk and look for a bathroom, and a place to smoke, the next thing I knew I was out of the airport and in some sort of weird shopping mall. Then I looked at my watch, and realized I was late, and that the plane was boarding or it took off. I remember something like it being three minutes past the take off time, so I started to run, and it seemed as is I was a long way away from the airport and the gate, and I had a bundle of clothes in my arms. At that point I was very aware of what was happening, and told myself to “wake up”…not a really frightening dream, but I didn’t want to be in it anymore, so I woke up , and do not know if I ever got to the flight or not.
It feels like you have left or are wanting to leave something behind, to be able to move forward to your next destination. The guy you are breaking up with seems familiar to you.. maybe due to the nature of whatever you are willing or trying to let go of.. it feels right..
The phone convo leads me to believe maybe there is an aspect of yourself you may be ready to confront and let go. Something which has kept you from doing all the things you love. If this were my dream, I would make the connection between the familiarity of the person you broke up with which may be a reflection of you.. what is it you are trying to break up with ?
An airport is usually a place where you can take-off anywhere in the world. The possibilities are endless. Are you approaching a departure in your life? Going away from one way of being to the next? Since you say it seemed like an old fashion “pre 9/11” airport/plane etc.. I feel there is a sense of freedom and ease to be able to get through (not all the fuss and muss of a regular 2012 plane ride) yet there is this long line blocking you and your need to smoke is strong. I find it funny that there is a double standard here like : “Why is he allowed to smoke here (the guard) while we wait in line but not me?” It would have been much easier if he allowed you to smoke, you would have been in Paris by now right????
Question yourself about this. Taking “smoking” out. Who do I feel is “allowed” to do something and its easy, and I can’t and its hard?
The gate is the part where you “attreversiamo” to cross over (if you’ve read Eat, Pray, Love) You are right there! But the craving is too strong so you go.. The cigarette represents an addictive habit we may have which stops us from getting to our goals/destinations. The 10 hr wait may represent your emotions on how long it will take to get to your goal.. Do you often feel it takes long for you to get where you want to go, maybe you feel that’s not fair, or you do not have enough time?
Paris: romance, love, sex, home, desire (these nouns are your goals or longings)
Since Paris is to some women, the place for love and romance, do you feel this way too? You mention home. Do you feel “at home” right now in your life? Do you feel where you are supposed to be? The desire for a soul-mate or lover seems to be strong. You mentioned you had a “boyfriend” on your to-do list. Do you feel it is long overdue?
The suitcase you carry is the key I think to this dream. It represents the baggage that you are carrying in your daily life. Think of the words you associated with suitcase: structure, organize, caged, alone, heavy .. Some of these words are heavy! And where does structure and organization fit in here? Do you feel you need more of it .. or do you feel you are “too” structured? Only you can answer this part of your dream.
Obviously in the bathroom, we release, get clean and walk away.. in life. The fact you are headed towards there to smoke maybe .. also may represent the need to unleash some emotional baggage before moving on to your next destination.. whether it is a new relationship or a business venture.. or project.. to move easily we need to release, dump and get clean!
Like an airport, a shopping mall could be a place of endless possibilities, you can find almost anything you need in a mall, however, for some like you and I, the mall represents “hectic and crazy living” its a place FULL of people, often getting in our way. In your words, malls are: Frenzy, noise, fake, disconnected ! What in your life now feels this way? Where in your life now do you feel trapped?
Why do you think you end up in a mall? Does your life now feel like a mall at times? Journal about these questions to get clear answers.
The next part of the dream is where the feeling of “time” and being late comes in. A feeling which comes up in me is: “there isn’t enough time” do you feel this?
Also I just wanted you to notice the clothes you were carrying. They too are a form of baggage, yet the words you put to “clothes” are interesting.
- Positive: warm, soft, clean
- Negative: cold, dirty, heavy
Almost polar opposites. So keep the clean stuff I say and it is time to let go of what is leaving you cold, what is weighing down on your and what negative stuff needs to be released to get to that warm cosy feeling!
🙂 The end
WOW! Kim, this is really an amazing interpretation, and it totally resonates with me, certainly with where I am right now…makes so much sense.
